Sheila Gashumba Biography – The Ugandan entertainment and social scene has had a host swanky and flashy socialists and entertainers over the year but it is now hardly possible to mention a list of successful queens of beauty and socialists without bumping into Sheila Gashumba’s name.
Gashumba has become such a hot item, just like her father Frank, that media houses, fans, entertainment lovers and horny men have turned her into entertainment fodder in equal measure.
Born on 7th February 1996, it is prudent to say that Sheila was born for TV.
The multi-talented and eccentric Sheila first graced our TV’s at the age of 10 when she was a news anchor and reporter for the Kids News Show on the defunct WBS TV.
Nyinabashumba Carol, as she was formerly known before venturing into TV has since then become a major force to reckon with in the entertainment business and the social scene.
On WBS TV, she was later elevated to a TEENS CLUB, which was a vibrant entertainment programme for teenagers which aired every Saturday.
Her Television career has since had a meteoric rise in stature and experience and she has since become one of the most sought after female presenters. The now NTV Uganda presenter has since ventured into business and fashion.
Early Life and Education
Sheila went to Kampala’s most glamorous schools; Little Angels Nakasero, and then Taibah Junior School, City Parents Primary where she sat PLE and scored four aggregate. Gashumba joined St. Mary’s Namagunga but later on relocated again to Taibah International.
Career & Television
In 2007, Sheila Gashumba reported for Uganda’s leading independent newspaper , Daily monitor as a reporter for the CHOGM teens column, during the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), which was presided over by The Queen of England, in Kampala, Uganda. This made her the youngest reporter to cover the historic event.
As already noted above, Sheila has been on Television since a tender age of 10, having started with WBS before joining media giants, NTV.
The Kampala Serena Hotel based media house hired a young Gashumba for a programme called, T-Nation before joining Douglas Lwanga in the NTV the Beat.
After a few years down the road Sheila upgraded to THE BEAT a program she did with Douglas Lwanga still on NTV
In 2012, Sheila Gashumba founded Young Bodies Big Hearts, a charity organisation that seeks to give back to society and the disadvantaged. She describes herself and a woman that likes giving out to others and spreading wings of love and care.
The charity has since given back to several members of the vulnerable society such as Sanyu Babies Home, Gods image ministry among others.
Years ago, her organization held a fundraising ceremony at the Kampala Serena Hotel that was graced by the then minister for health Dr. Ruhankana Rugunda, who is the current Premier. The proceeds went to Mulago Hospital Children’s ward.
She describes her organization thus;
“We believe in giving back to society. The organisation believes that we truly make life of what we give.
There is nothing more wonderful than making a child smile and have a great hope for a better future. That’s the beauty we stand for and it’s THE BEAUTY WITH A PURPOSE. It all starts with ME and YOU. Together we can make a change in the whole world,”
Sheila is a super commercial model, talented dancer, digital influencer, fashionista and an events MC. She has hosted several illustrious events such as the Miss Rwanda beauty pageant and the Master Card Foundation School Conference among other gigs.
Sheila has also interviewed top personalities in the entertainment industry and government such as the Minister of Trade and Industry and Member of Parliament Mrs Amelia Kyambadde Kampala lord Mayor Erias Lukwago and global stars like Wiz Kid, Yemi Alade, Patoranking, Davido, D’banj, and others in her Exclusive access segment in the Beat programme at NTV.
Gashumba has covered Channel O awards in Johannesburg, South Africa, Big Brother Africa, 2017 BET Awards at the Microsoft Theatre in Carlifornia’s city of Los Angeles.
Social media and influence
Gashumba is one of the most influential female Ugandans on social media, with a huge following on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and Twitter which has landed a couple of endorsement deals.
- In 2017, Sheila signed a multi-million deal with telecom giants Africell Uganda’s a brand ambassador and her face graces billboards across the country as well as TVC’s promoting the company’s products.
- Century bottling company’s Coca Cola, enlisted Sheila as an Influencer to promote their flagship Coke Studio Africa show that unites top musicians from across the continent doing live collaborations, aired on TVs across the continent.
- In 2017, Uber, the APP that has revolutionalised public transport worldwide also enlisted Sheila’s services as their brand ambassador when they started operations in Uganda.
The beautiful pencil sized celebrity has in the recent past been rumoured to be in love with fast rising rapper Fik Fameika. She however dumped the rapper and fell in love with fellow philanthropist Ali Lwanga and the two have flaunted their love top the open and are still dating.
